A phenomenon that transcends time and borders
The subject of migration is a theme that especially concerns the author and which she takes up again from her previous book, Casa de agua, to project it now in the form of a catalogued memory, hence the "invent-ory" included in the title. Migrations are phenomena that have marked the history of humanity since ancient times and the Ecuadorian poet focuses on this universal aspect of the human being, on her character of homo viator, walking along the paths of water and land, tracing her destiny, building her own personal horizon. Un fenómeno que trasciende tiempos y fronteras
El tema de las migraciones es un tema que preocupa especialmente a la autora y que retoma de su libro anterior para proyectarlo ahora en forma de recuerdo catalogado, de ahí el “inventa- rio” que incluye en el título. Las migraciones son fenómenos que han marcado desde antiguo la historia de la humanidad y la poeta ecuatoriana, se fija en este aspecto universal del ser humano, en su carácter de homo viator, caminante por los senderos del agua y de la tierra, trazando su destino, construyendo su propio horizonte personal. Ivonne Gordon realiza un entrañado y valioso home- naje a un fenómeno que trasciende tiempos y fronteras.

Desplazamiento migratorio
En Inventario íntimo de las cosas, de la poeta ecuatoriana Ivonne Gordon, el sujeto poético femenino toma las riendas de la memoria refugiándose en lo esencial, (“empecé a exiliarme en el lenguaje de lo eterno”) y se posiciona frente al mundo: “descubrí que había nacido entre dos memorias, / entre dos mundos, dos culturas, dos preguntas / como jinete en el aire de sangre seca, y descubrí / que mi vida sería sin zapatos, que tendría raíces arrugadas, / y el árbol de leche sin tubérculos sería mi tesoro”. Como se puede observar en estos versos la voz lírica es fuerte y revela en sus veinticuatro poemas su propia estructura, tomando como título el primero de los versos de cada apartado para enlazar temas y acontecimientos y formar un único poemario en el que se exploran todos los elementos de ese desplazamiento migratorio. En el comienzo, “Una sombra inventada tiembla” abunda en la referencia a la nebulosa del pasado en la que pervive la ilusión esperanzada trazada en el sendero del agua. En este poema ya se convoca a la imagen de la mujer fundadora, la abuela, que lleva en sus hombros la responsabilidad del destino, tejedora y zurcidora, se debate entre la nostalgia del pasado y el paso del tiempo. Los poemas avanzan con la estructura que dispone el pensamiento conmovido, encadenando motivos que se refieren siempre a esa historia familiar de exilio.

Migratory Displacement
In the poetry collection, Intimate Inventory of Things, Inventario íntimo de las cosas, of Ivonne Gordon, the female poetic subject takes the reins of memory, taking refuge in the essential, ("I began to exile myself in the language of the eternal") and positions herself before the world: "I discovered that I was born between two memories, / between two worlds, two cultures, two questions / as a rider in the air of dried blood, and I discovered / that my life would be without shoes, that it would have wrinkled roots, / and the tree of milk without tubers would be my treasure". As seen in these verses, the lyric voice is strong, and it reveals in its twenty-four poems its own structure, taking as title the first of the verses of each section to link themes that are explored in the events and form a single book of poems, in which all the elements of this migratory displacement are explored. At the beginning, "An invented shadow trembles" abounds in the reference to the nebula of the past in which the hopeful illusion traced on the path of water survives. This poem already summons the image of the founding woman, the grandmother, who carries on her shoulders the responsibility of destiny, weaver, and darn maker, she struggles between the nostalgia of the past and the passing of time. The poems move forward with the structure that arranges the moving thoughts, chaining the motifs that always refer to that familiar history that always refers to the history of exile.
